Europe recently reached a Solar Power installed record: 100 GW. Surely, it’s great news for sustainable development of the European territory. The record achieved during the 2nd quarter of 2016, has much merit, it must be remembered that 11 years ago there were only 3 GW online in the european grid. The favorable development wich has taken place over the last 11 years has been basically brought by two factors:
-Huge reduction costs throughout Europe.
-Laws and regulations in favor of photovoltaic solar energy.
Valfortec is immersed in the photovoltaics field from 2005, so we have had the opportunity to connect plants on the grid that have contributed to get those 100 GW. In Spain we have connected 104 MW; in the UK 50 MW; and 1.6 MW in Japan and developing more than 50MW. Total solar power installed by Valfortec is 156 MW. The whole Valfortec team, feels proud to have joined the reaching of 100 GW in Europe. We currently keep working in several european projects wich will allow to increase that quota, and also, contributing to a more sustainable and green Europe, ensuring a favorable environment for coming generations.
Oliver Schäfer, Solarpower Europe President, claims that have reached 100 GW “It’s an unprecedented achievement and cause for celebration.” Therefore, the organization will commemorate the anniversary next September 29, 2016 with an event in Brussels, city where its headquarters are located.
